Best local blogs

The Indpendent is taking votes on the Best of the Triangle for 2006. They must have been afraid that OrangePolitics would sweep Best Blog for a third year in a row because they have removed the category! Can we declare ourselves Best Blog for Life? ;-)

(And this after snubbing me last year by never sending my award packet. Hmph.)

Anyway, what other local blogs do y'all read (or write)? I've been collecting them under the local blogs link in the sidebar.

I'm a new fan of UNC student Chase Foster's blog:

http://conservativelove.blogspot.com/

I'm not always sure what he's talking about, but it's not for want of clarity and style; my occasional confusion may only prove I've finally grown out of irony, in which case I have to go slit my wrists now. But it's a smart blog, and funny.

Oh yeah, and I also regularly read Eric Muller's blog isthatlegal.org , and Sally Greene's blog greenespace.blogspot.com , and Ross "I was blogging before there was a Web" Grady's trianglerock.com . I used to read Todd Morman's monkeytime.org all the time, but he doesn't update it very often. I also read the blog of Mark Tosczak (former Herald-Sun guy, now with Greensboro Record), thoughtsignals.com . I also read a book blog out of Asheville called tinglealley.com . I am also mourning the demise of Durham resident and writer Misha Angrist's slap-your-mama-good blog, Large Vibrating Egg. Misha, if you're out there, please start it again. I can't take it anymore.

Not exactly close, but I read Ed Cone's blog pretty often. And new the DTH Edit Page Editor Jeff Smith keeps a pretty neat blog at http://carolinianjeff.blogspot.com

OrangePolitics doesn't understand how lucky it is that the category was removed. Imagine the ignominy of losing out to the "It's Carrboro" blog! Oh yes, your liberal tears will taste so sweet!

Hee hee.

Best Local SONG maybe, but BLOG? I don't think so, son. You better step aside before my blog meets your blog behind the Piggly Wiggly and beats your blog's butt! ;-)

X-Posted from Concerned Citizen:

The ratings for the 2006 South By Southwest Interactive panels are out.
Local 'blogger ae, of arsepoetica fame, led the blogHer sponsored panel Increasing Women's Visibility on the Web: Whose Butt Should We Be Kicking?
Score? 5.0 of 5.0!
Local 'blogger ruby, of OrangePolitics and LotusMedia fame, kicked some butt with a highly respectable 4.32.
Ruby got kudos for her performance, besting fellow presenters DailyKos' Markos Moulitsas and RedState's Mike Krempasky.

Ruby this is a great blog. Maybe they just need to give the "grand poobah emeritus blog" award and be done with it.

The best ones are the uncensored ones.

Yeah, bring it, Risk.

Well, now that Duncan's outed me, there's zero chance of that happening.

D'oh! Perhaps you can blog under a new pseudonym...
