The Comprehensive Plan Kickoff meeting is scheduled from 5:30 - 8:30 PM on the 22nd. I suspect it's not on the events calendar yet because staff haven't yet pinned down a location. The Council chamber may not be big enough. Ed Harrison
The Comprehensive Plan's kick-off meeting is now scheduled for Sept. 27th. (Per George's calendar post.) The more I learn about the Orange County Democratic Party, the more I start to question their relevance to municipal politics. I wonder what will this forum will add to the conversation that we won't get elsewhere. I appreciate their organizing around state and local elections, but am frankly glad to have a relatively non-partisan environment in which to discuss local issues.
I just learned that only candidates that are registered Democrats were invited to this forum. I can certainly understand the OCDW's motivation for doing this, but it makes the whole thing less interesting to me. I don't want to go just to hear from *some* of the candidates. And if they feel the same about voters who are not registered Democrats, I think they probably won't miss my presence much anyway.

I hear (from my sister who was on the Initiating Committee) that this is the same evening that the Town of Chapel Hill is planning their big Comprehensive Plan Planning Kick-off event. It isn't on the Town events calendar yet, but the Transportation Board and the OWASA Board meetings are.
