OP Posse
OrangePolitics was never just me, even though some people like to see it that way. When I started this site over 10 years ago I had help setting up the software, and many friends posted entries regularly including local activists, newspaper columnists, and elected officials. There were always a few people I could count on to write some great blog posts, or help monitor the site for spam. After years of sporadic support from a rotating cast of bloggers, Damon Seils encouraged me to formally create a proper editorial board for OrangePolitics in 2011.
We recruited stellar activists like Molly De Marco, Jason Baker, and Erin Crouse to join Damon and me in becoming The OP Posse. We recruited Jeff Miles while still a UNC student, lost Erin and Jason to grad school, and then were very fortunate to be joined by Travis Crayton.
Today I am very happy to announce that we have a new member joining
the OrangePolitics Posse (a.k.a. editorial board)! Travis Crayton has
been a regular poster & commenter here on OP for almost 2 years. Travis first became interested in local issues when he served as
treasurer and an active volunteer for Lee Storrow's 2011 campaign. Since
then, he's become particularly interested in transit, economic
development, town-university relations, and all things downtown. He
graduates this Sunday from UNC with a degree in political science and public policy.
I think he's going to make an excellent addition the the posse, and he's jumping in by helping to live tweet the Chapel Hill Town Council Worksession tonight on @OrangePolitics!
Please join us at our next editorial meeting on June 2nd to welcome him in person.

During the Thanksgiving weekend of 2010, Ruby and I met over coffee in downtown Carrboro to discuss a new direction for OrangePolitics. By the turn of the new year, Ruby had recruited me, Erin, Jason, and Molly to act as a group of editors who would help solicit new content, expand OP's presence on Twitter (@orangepolitics) and other social media, moderate comments when necessary, and prosecute the war on spambots and other robot visitors.
